Erotic art history (14) --- India, 1915

(From the pages of Erotic Art History)

Today’s piece of historic erotic art comes to us from 1915 India.* In this image, we see a bejeweled male couple 69ing in a very ambitious position in an ornately decorated room with what appear to be hookahs painted on the walls and a lush and bucolic countryside visible outside the window. The man on the left stands mostly upright and with his handstanding partner’s legs hooked over each shoulder as he leans forward to suck his upside down partner’s cock. His partner, meanwhile, is standing on one hand with his back to his partner’s stomach and is rotating and bending his head at an unlikely angle while using his free hand to guide his partner’s cock into his mouth.

*NOTE - I originally wrote this article several years ago before I realized that this project would grow into what it has ultimately has become and did not save my reference for this. I have searched high and low for the original citation, but cannot find it. As I recall, my source was probably best classified as “some webpage” rather than a scholarly site, and honestly, and it also contained the claim that this piece is a watercolor done on a cotton cloth when, from this scan of the image, at least, that does not appear to be the case. That said, generally, when a source gets specific enough to provide an exact year, I give it some weight, but I’d suggest that readers take it in a purely advisory capacity.
