Hrvoje Majer

(About the artist:)

« In my core I am very classical, and the history of art is very important to me. I love to reference old masters but I am very much interested in contemporary people. The challenge is how to use classical language and speak of contemporary themes. »

The artist

Hrvoje Majer is a young talent from Croatia whose paintings and drawings have been exhibited in both solo and group shows internationally. After visiting the major museums of London, Paris, Rome, and Venice when he was 19 years old, Majer was inspired to create work of his own. He attended multiple art schools and began experimenting with large abstract paintings. His style eventually evolved into portraiture, working in oils and ink with a bright color palette. Majer is inspired by both classical and contemporary artists, from Caravaggio and Titian, to David Hockney and Marlene Dumas.
